It seems that everyone is looking for that one thing that will solve all their problems and cause them to live the perfect life. I hate to break it to you but not only does this “one thing” not exist but even if it did, would you really want to go through the rest of your life under perfect conditions?
You might think you would…but think carefully about your answer. You’re smart enough to know that struggling helps you to grow and growing helps you to win.
The key to winning at life
Winning at life is really not that hard…if you know what to do. Sadly, many people make it harder than it needs to be. Here are five keys to a lifetime of winning for you.
Key #1: make the decision. What decision? The decision that you WANT to win in life. After all, if you don’t really want to, why even bother trying? Or for that matter, stop reading this post right now. Once you’ve made the decision to win, proceed to step two.
Key #2: make a plan. Sit down at your computer and open up a word processing program or grab a notebook and WRITE OUT your definition of winning. There is MAGIC in writing this out. This is the step where you DREAM. Do not limit yourself or your dreams and desires! It’s been said that if you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time! The same applies to planning and dreaming.
Key #3: learn. How do you learn? Well, NOT watching television, that’s for sure! Here’s an idea: READ! Not magazines…but rather BOOKS. It doesn’t matter if you borrow them from your library, buy them at a used book store or on an e-book reader: JUST READ. Nothing replaces reading. The more you read, the smarter you get, and the chances of you winning increase.
Key #4: repeat Step Three until you die. Never, ever, ever stop learning. The only time your brain gets exercise is when you read and learn.
Key #5: dream bigger and bigger. Dreaming is awesome. Costs no money! So what is stopping YOU from dreaming? My first professional speaker mentor told me to write out Dream Days. These are single sheets of paper of what I desire my life to be in the future. At first, it was strange writing these out. But now…I get so motivated doing it. What do you dream about? Where do you want to live? Visit? What do you want to do? Dream. Dream. Dream!
Follow these steps…and you will win. Maybe not today or next week or next year…but you will begin your journey to winning.
And by the way, winning is defined differently by each of us. Your definition of success is as unique to you as your fingerprint. There is no right way to win. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
