How I Got So Smart and Continue to Get Smarter

Okay, okay.  I can’t lie.  I just can’t.  The “someone” was myself.  LOL!  Today’s post title was a silly (conniving) way to get you to read this post.  I guess if you are still reading,  it works.

But bear with me here.

When people find out in the course of a conversation, by reading my blog or scanning my LinkedIn profile or following me on Twitter or Facebook that I have a standing goal to read at least 52 books a year (sometimes more), they ask….how?

Well, here’s my secret:  I make time to read.  That’s right, I make time to read on purpose.  I have discovered that if I don’t make time, then I won’t read.  This is done consciously.  In other words, on purpose.

My love – well, addiction actually – for reading started in 2007 when I read 54 books.  That was followed by reading 63 books in 2008, 58 in 2009, 51 in 2010 and 57 in 2011.  So far in 2012, I have read 19 books.

I guess there are worse things to be addicted to than to reading.    One of my goals was to write a book myself.  I did that already.  In fact, I’ve started writing my second one!e to write my own book.

I hope you love to read as well.  If not, make it a point to start.  It’s exercise for your brain!

Thank you for reading this post today.
